Talkin' bout my Generation!

I have a bone to pick with my generation. There seems to be this whole notion that its hip to hate the country… I see this in many people my age, even my ex girlfriend. They are quick when it comes to pointing out the flaws of our country. The mistakes our past leaders have made. The walk with the most negative view on our country and they hold the least hope for current and future times. It breaks my beating heart.

I love my country and I am not afraid to say it… Where I am from, patriotism is left up for the rednecks with flags on their pick up trucks. Most kids in college walk around with this uppity ass attitude that they know all the problems about America and that the rednecks are just ignorant hicks. Well ladies and gentlemen I am not ignorant, and even though I am from Wisconsin, I am not a hick. I simply hold my country close to my heart, and the optimistic view on my life spills onto the future of this country. I respect those who have served to protect this land. I think of the lives and the intent of Americas founding fathers on a weekly basis. I am a proud American. I believe that we as a country are exceptional, not because we are better, but because we are the most free. I see us as a the hope. We have our problems, and past mistakes, but the great things, and good deeds we have done far out shine the bad.

I believe in our freedom to critize our government... but I also beleive the good shouldn't go unoticed. I'll give credit where credit is due, and my country deserves some credit. So in the words of my generation... Party on, party on...

Personally, I find most of these nay-sayers tongue tied when I ask them to name a country that's better.
